Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 October 2026
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Repair Guide (“we”, “us”), the operator of the website repairguide.net, handles personal information. Repair Guide is an educational website; it has no user accounts, no shop and no payments.
You can contact us about privacy through our contact form (choose “Privacy request”).
2. Summary
- You can read the whole website without giving us any personal information.
- The site does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking tags, social media plugins, or third-party fonts or scripts.
- We only collect personal information if you send us a message through the contact form, plus the limited technical data any web server processes to deliver pages.
- We don’t sell or share personal information for advertising.
3. Information we collect
Contact form
When you use the contact form we collect your name, email address, chosen topic, your message, and the date and time you sent it. To protect the form from abuse, our server also processes your IP address when you submit; we use it temporarily to limit repeated submissions and do not store it with your message.
Server and hosting logs
Like all websites, our web server and hosting provider receive technical information when you load a page, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time of the request. This information is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and troubleshoot errors. Our hosting provider may retain these logs for a limited period under its own policies.
Interactive tools
The hiring checklist and cost estimator run entirely in your browser. Your selections are not sent to us or stored after you leave the page.
4. How we use information
- To read and reply to your message (the legal basis, where applicable, is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, or steps you ask us to take).
- To keep the website secure and prevent spam and abuse (legitimate interests).
- To comply with legal obligations where applicable.
We don’t use your information for automated decision-making, profiling or marketing, and we won’t add you to a mailing list.
5. Cookies and tracking
Repair Guide does not set cookies and does not use analytics, advertising pixels (including Microsoft Advertising UET), session recording or similar tracking technologies. If we add any such tools in future, we will update this policy before they go live and, where required by law, ask for your consent first.
6. Sharing
We don’t sell or rent personal information. Information may be processed by service providers acting on our behalf under appropriate contractual terms: our website host (Vercel) and our email delivery provider (Resend), which forwards contact-form messages to our support inbox. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
7. Retention
We keep contact form messages only as long as needed to respond and handle any follow-up, and we aim to delete them within 12 months of our last correspondence. Spam submissions are deleted. Server logs are retained for a limited period by our hosting provider.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Contact messages are stored on access-restricted systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please don’t send sensitive information such as passwords or payment details through the form.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Residents of some US states (such as California) and of the UK and EU have specific rights under local law. To make a request, contact us through our contact form (choose “Privacy request”). We won’t discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Children
Repair Guide is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. External links
Our pricing sources and some guides link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; please read their policies.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our website or practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised.
